Police Find 7-Year-Old Ohio Boy’s Body ‘Hidden’ in Home Where Three Adults Were Found Dead the Night Before

Police Find 7-Year-Old Ohio Boy’s Body ‘Hidden’ in Home Where Three Adults Were Found Dead the Night Before

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

A 7-year-old boy’s body was found “hidden” inside a Lawrence County, Ohio, home a day after three adults were shot dead inside the same home, according to authorities.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless confirmed in a news conference on Thursday afternoon that Devin Holston was the youngest victim of a quadruple shooting murder.

Initially it was thought that the 7-year-old with the “bubbly personality and enthusiasm for school” was missing after three adults were found dead and another injured in a trailer home on Wednesday night.

Sadly police discovered the little boy’s body the following day after researching the home.

The fifth living victim was stabbed in the neck and head but was able to escape and seek help at a neighbor’s home. The victim was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

“The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending positive identification and notification of next of kin,” the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office announced on Thursday. “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and cannot compromise this investigation by divulging more information at this time.”

A missing endangered child alert was issued for Devin by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office but was later called off on early Thursday morning after investigators found Devin’s body was “hidden” in the home, according to Lawless, who also told the Ironton Tribune that “those involved in the incident were all related in some way.”

Warrants have been issued for Aaron Lawson, 23, on three counts of murder and one count of aggravated murder.

Lawson was spotted driving a Blue Chevrolet truck at approximately 12:30 a.m. when a pursuit ensued. Officials said Lawson crashed the vehicle into a ditch and fled on foot into the woods.

“I searched in our computer system and have no record of him,” Lawless said of Lawson not having a criminal background. “We’ve been talking to family and friends, and everyone is dumbfounded. … We’re going to get him, we won’t quit until we do.”

Devin’s neighbor, Kyle Evans, told local news outlet WSAZ that Lawson would babysit Devin and his brother from time to time.

“Devin was a really sweet boy,” said Evans, who would often cut Devin’s hair at his barbershop. “In the summer we would take him to Bible school with us to our church in town. We’re down here at this barn all the time, me and my kids, and my oldest girl would always play with Devin.”

Adding, “You know, he’s just a baby. You can’t even imagine. You don’t even want to imagine.”

Devin, a second-grader at Rock Creek Elementary, was also remembered as having a “bubbly personality and enthusiasm for school,” according to his teachers who spoke to The Record-Courier.

“Devin was widely liked by all the staff and students,” said Wes Hairston, superintendent of Rock Creek Local Schools. “It’s a tragedy that someone this young would perish by someone in a senseless act of hate or violence.”

Heidi Klum Speaks Out Against Harvey Weinstein as He's Stripped of Executive Producer Credit on Project Runway

Heidi Klum Speaks Out Against Harvey Weinstein as He's Stripped of Executive Producer Credit on Project Runway

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

Heidi Klum is supporting the “brave women” who have spoken out against Harvey Weinstein, who is embroiled in an ongoing sexual harassment scandal.

“I wish I could say that the horrible stories I read about Harvey Weinstein are a rare occurrence in our society, but that is simply not the case. We would be naive to think that this behavior only happens in Hollywood,” Klum, 44, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“This is one example of the more pervasive problem of the mistreatment of women around the world. I think it would be hard to find a woman – myself included – who have not had an experience where they have felt intimidated or threatened by a man using his power, position or his physical stature,” the Project Runway host and judge says.

“I truly admire these brave women who are coming forward to share their stories because change cannot come unless there is a dialogue and people are held accountable,” she concludes.

RELATED: The Harvey Weinstein Scandal: All of the Hollywood Figures Who Have Spoken Out Against Movie Mogul

Klum’s statements come after Weinstein, 65, was stripped of his executive producer credit on the Lifetime reality show competition.

Since Project Runway‘s premiere in 2012, the movie mogul’s former studio, The Weinstein Company, has been co-producing the show along with Bunim-Murray Productions.

A source tells PEOPLE it’s unclear what will happen going forward as TWC owns a majority in Project Runway.

Weinstein’s wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman has often appeared on the show as a guest judge since 2012.

“Production is already completed on the next season of Project Runway All Stars with Georgina,” a rep for the reality Lifetime series confirmed to PEOPLE Thursday. “We have yet to determine an airdate.”

Weinstein has since been fired from TWC and Chapman announced she’s leaving him.

On Sunday, eight women — including actress Ashley Judd — spoke out against Weinstein in a New York Times report, accusing him of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior. The paper also reported that Weinstein reached private settlements with eight women, including actress Rose McGowan.

On Tuesday, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and several other women added their own accounts of alleged mistreatment, and more than two dozen women have now come forward.

Also on Tuesday, Chapman revealed in a statement to PEOPLE that she had decided to leave Weinstein in the wake of the allegations: “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”

Following the NYT report about the allegations, Weinstein said in a statement that he was working with therapists and planned to “deal with this issue head-on.”

“Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” a spokesperson for the movie mogul has said.

On Thursday, PEOPLE reported that Weinstein checked into a luxury resort in Arizona after jetting out of Los Angeles on Wednesday. The source said the movie mogul was staying at the five-star hotel (which boasts a spa and golf course) because “he doesn’t want to go a place where he can’t use his cell phone.”

“His team set him up at a secure place to get him the help he needs — he knows and wants help,” said another source close to the situation.

WATCH: Deadly Calif. Wildfire Doesn't Stop This U.S. Postal Service Worker From Delivering Mail

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

Douglas Thron was filming the devastation of the Northern California fires with his drone when he unexpectedly spotted a U.S. Postal Service worker delivering mail through the burnt-out ruins in a clean, white truck.

On Wednesday, one day after capturing the footage, the aerial videographer and photographer shared the harrowing video of the mail carrier driving around the Coffey Park neighborhood in Santa Rosa, an area that was almost completely destroyed in an out-of-control fire.

At least 31 people have been killed in the wildfires that have been burning across Northern California since Sunday.

“I was filming the aftermath of what had happened from the fires the following morning … and I see someone waving at the drone from the truck,” Thron tells PEOPLE about discovering the USPS worker, who wore a face mask.

The Oakland-based videographer, who has filmed wildfires since the 1990s, did not approach the USPS worker and has yet to meet the mystery deliverer.

“I don’t know him, it would be nice to meet him, I would love to,” he says. “It was heartbreaking to see it. This postman obviously knows those people intimately having delivered their mail for who knows how long. A lot of those people were his friends.”

As for why he thinks the USPS worker continued to deliver the neighborhood’s mail, Thron tells PEOPLE: “I heard by request of the homeowners. I would imagine they didn’t want their paychecks and whatever they wanted to get lost somewhere.”

“My whole purpose of filming was trying to show the devastation because this wasn’t a simple, typical fire. This was one that literally looks like a war zone that bombed random sections of miles of miles of the town,” he says.

“It looks like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” he adds.

Thron explains he wanted to gather footage and show people the devastation from the wildfires, the deadliest to strike the state in more than 80 years.

“Hopefully will motivate people to help out, volunteer, donate and help all these people who are now homeless,” he says.

Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in several counties as the fires, which began on Sunday, swept through Northern California and urged Donald Trump to declare an official state of disaster to support local relief efforts.

“In less than 24 hours, more than 18 fires began burning in at least seven counties and have collectively burned more than 80,000 acres,” Brown wrote in a statement.

The fires continued well into Tuesday and Brown said that the flames grew so rapidly that residents had little time to leave their homes and flee to temporary shelters. He added that officials expect the number of deaths as a result of the fire to grow.

Nate Berkus Shares How His Entertaining Style Has Changed Since Welcoming Daughter Poppy

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Nate Berkus is the expert on all things party planning. But since becoming a father to one-year-old daughter, Poppy, the designer’s go-to entertaining style has had a few changes.

“We entertain around her nap schedule now,” Berkus, artistic advisor for LG Studio, told PEOPLE at a breakfast on June 8, which celebrated the sleek line of high-end appliances he helped design.

But when Poppy isn’t snoozing, Berkus, 44, and husband Jeremiah Brent, 31, keep her busy with poolside play dates that are a far cry from a formal outdoor gathering.

“Our home is now filled with blow up toys from Target in the pool as opposed to margaritas,” Berkus said.

And the menu planning is even simpler.

“We throw food on the barbecue, we’ve actually even had a taco truck come once,” Berkus said. “We do put out snacks for the little ones, and they sit and throw them in the pool.”

NeNe Leakes Addresses Heckling Incident: ‘I Actually Had a Real Breakdown’

NeNe Leakes Addresses Heckling Incident: ‘I Actually Had a Real Breakdown’

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

NeNe Leakes is speaking out about the heckling incident that got her fired from The Great Xscape tour.

After thanking her fans and followers for supporting her amid during an Instagram Live on Thursday, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 49, addressed the Oct. 7 incident when she told a heckler at an Oakland, California, stand-up show that she hoped she got raped by her Uber driver on the way home.

“A lot of people know me as NeNe who’s laughing and talking, a lot of don’t know me as NeNe who would break down. I actually had a real breakdown,” Leakes said on Instagram about her reactions following the incident.

“Trust and believe, I’m so okay, I’m in a great place today. I can’t say I haven’t been in a great place these last few days. I’m so okay with everything, I just haven’t talked a lot or spoken out a lot,” the mother of two said.

Leakes was slated to host a November concert featuring girl group Xscape (including her RHOA costar Kandi Burruss). However, the band announced Thursday that they were “dismayed” by the remark Leakes made.

While Leakes apologized in a statement Monday afternoon on Facebook, on Thursday she seemed to change her tune a bit.

“Yesterday I got a little bit emotional. I have never said anything that the heckler said to me. All the girls on the tour with me know what happened,” she said on Instagram.

“I plan on not letting anyone take my joy. I created my own show because I wanted to get out and express some of the things that I have inside of me,” the Fashion Police panelist added.

Concluding, “I don’t consider myself a comedian, I always say that. I’ve said that since the day I first started. I just consider myself a s–t talker, a funny lady. I never imagined ever, ever, ever stepping on stage and somebody screaming out ‘Go kill yourself’ to me. It literally took me somewhere else, I apologize. I’ve let that go.”

In their statement, Xscape said: “Like many, we were dismayed by the recent remarks made by our talented colleague and friend Nene Leakes. As a result, we have decided to no longer proceed with her participation on our tour. It was an unfortunate incident for which Nene has since apologized and we wish her the best as she navigates this very difficult period.”

They continued, “As strong supporters of all women, we know this decision is what is best. Our hearts go out to all female victims and we stand with you! This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends. As always, we are grateful for the love and support and we look forward to seeing all of you at ‘The Great Xscape’ tour.”

Samoas in cupcake form was a thing we never knew we needed, but now it’s the only thing we can think about.

Pillsbury just unveiled Girl Scout Cookie baking mixes, which are available in Thin Mints and Caramel & Coconut – a.k.a. Samoas – flavors. The four new mixes are for baking cupcakes, brownies and blondies — unfortunately, you won’t be able to make actual Girl Scout Cookies, because that would put a lot of 7-year-olds out of business.

GSC loyalists are, to put it mildly, freaking out.

The mixes, now available nationwide, retail for $3.29 each — almost $2 less than what you’d pay for a box of cookies.

Blake Lively Reveals She Was Sexually Harassed By a Makeup Artist Who Filmed Her While She Slept

Blake Lively Reveals She Was Sexually Harassed By a Makeup Artist Who Filmed Her While She Slept

by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com

Blake Lively is opening up about her own experiences with sexual harassment after several female celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie came forward following allegations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein.

Lively, 30, revealed her “terrifying” experience with sexual harassment allegedly at the hands of a makeup artist.

“He was saying things inappropriately, insisting on putting my lipstick on with his finger,” she told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

“I was sleeping one night on location and I woke up and he was filming me,” she continued, “I was clothed, but it was a very voyeuristic, terrifying thing to do.”

Lively, 30, said she told producers about the issue but that nothing happened after she spoke out.

Instead, the mother of two claims she was approached about a different incident, this time about her dog defecating behind a toilet in her dressing room.

The actress said producers told her, “‘This is very serious and we can’t have this happen again.'”

She took her sexual harassment complaints to a lawyer, which opened up an investigation that caused the makeup artist to be removed from the project, she told the LA Times.

Despite his removal, Lively said it doesn’t prevent him from working in the industry.

“Our unit production manager wrote him a letter of recommendation because nobody wanted there to be bad blood,” Lively said.

On Tuesday, Lively had spoken out oh the Weinstein allegations but did not divulge her own experience with harassment.

“That was never my experience with Harvey in any way whatsoever, and I think that if people heard these stories… I do believe in humanity enough to think that this wouldn’t have just continued,” she told The Hollywood Reporter . “I never heard any stories like this — I never heard anything specific — but it’s devastating to hear.”

She continued, “It’s important that women are furious right now. It’s important that there is an uprising. It’s important that we don’t stand for this and that we don’t focus on one or two or three or four stories, it’s important that we focus on humanity in general and say, ‘That is unacceptable.'”

On Tuesday, The New Yorker revealed — among 13 different women’s accounts of alleged sexual harassment, assault or rape — that the mogul allegedly forcibly performed oral sex on Italian actress Asia Argento two decades ago.

Actresses Mira Sorvino and Rosanna Arquette also claimed that after rejecting Weinstein’s unwanted advances, they were removed from or kept from being hired for projects.

Also on Tuesday, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie added their own accounts of alleged mistreatment.

In a New York Times report last week, eight women — including actress Ashley Judd — spoke out against Weinstein, accusing him of inappropriate behavior.

In response to the lengthy allegations made against him in The New Yorker piece, a spokesperson for Weinstein said, “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”

Oliver Stone Says Harvey Weinstein ‘Shouldn’t Be Condemned’: ‘It’s Not Easy What He’s Going Through’

Oliver Stone opted against condemning Harvey Weinstein following multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

The Snowden director, 71, told reporters Friday at the Busan International Film Festival that he believes people are innocent until proven guilty.

“I’m a believer that you wait until this thing gets to trial,” he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I believe a man shouldn’t be condemned by a vigilante system.”

Stone continued, “It’s not easy what going through, either. During that period he was a rival. I never did business with him and didn’t really know him.”

“I’ve heard horror stories on everyone in the business,” Stone adds. “So I’m not going to comment on gossip. I’ll wait and see, which is the right thing to do.”

The New York Police Department launched a criminal investigation into Weinstein stemming from an assault allegation 13 years ago, PEOPLE confirmed Thursday.

The NYPD is looking into claims that the embattled movie mogul sexually assaulted the victim in 2004, a police spokesperson told PEOPLE.

A police official told PEOPLE that the NYPD is also “conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter.”

“No filed complaints have been identified as of this time and as always, the NYPD encourages anyone who may have information pertaining to this matter to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS,” the spokesperson added.

Officials would not release additional information on the alleged assault or the investigation. However, Lucia Stoller, now Lucia Evans, told the The New Yorker that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004.

“I tried to get away, but maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I didn’t want to kick him or fight him,” she told the magazine. “He’s a big guy. He overpowered me.”

In response to several allegations made against Weinstein, including Evans’, in the New Yorker piece, a spokesperson for Weinstein said, “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”

News of the investigation comes as the 65-year-old finds himself in the midst of an ongoing sexual harassment and abuse scandal with actresses including Cara Delevingne, Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie speaking out against Weinstein’s alleged behavior.

In a bombshell New York Times report last week, eight women accused him of acting inappropriately. The paper also reported that Weinstein reached private settlements with eight women, including actress Rose McGowan.

See Trisha Yearwood Dress Up As Husband Garth Brooks Just in Time for Halloween

by Jessica Fecteau @ PEOPLE.com

Trisha Yearwood might make you do a double-take during the latest episode of her Food Network show.

The host of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen posted a sneak peek of Saturday’s show where she dressed up as her husband, country music star Garth Brooks as part of her Halloween special.

“This is not a #TBT!” Yearwood posted. “This is Saturday’s episode of #TrishasKitchen! Do I make a good Garth?”

To dress the part of her husband of nearly 12 years, Yearwood wore (and perhaps borrowed) a black and white shirt, similar to the one he wore for the cover of his 1992 album The Chase, completing the look with a headset mic, blue jeans, fake facial hair, and, of course, a black cowboy hat.

The chef and country singer was joined by her friend, hairstylist Glenda Martin, who wore a curly blonde wig and brown blazer, acting as Yearwood.

“We got the wig and teased it up a little bit,” Martin says. “And then we sprayed it a little bit so it was the perfect Trisha Yearwood.”

Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story

Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Chip and Joanna Gaines are the definition of marriage goals, but their relationship didn’t necessarily have a fairytale start.

In the first chapter of The Magnolia Storyreleased as a sneak peek today, the Fixer Upper dream team spills the details of how they met — and it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.

Joanna agreed to go out on a date with Chip after meeting him and his roommate “Hot John” — who she actually tried to approach minutes earlier, but was too shy — in the waiting room of her dad’s auto shop. She had second thoughts, however, after Chip arrived an hour and a half late to pick her up.

“He didn’t apologize for being late, either. He had so much confidence. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. Only Chip could be an hour and a half late and have no one mad about it,” Joanna writes.

The chapter continues to describe the timeline of their relationship, which didn’t actually start until months after they first went out, when Chip (in typical guy fashion) finally called Joanna back.

“I’d made a bet with Hot John to see who could hold out the longest before calling our dates back,” Chip writes “I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That’s the only reason I didn’t call.”

After they went out a second time, the rest was history.

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers: WE WANT YOU! LC Labs Announces "Beyond Words" Crowdsourcing for WWI Historic Newspapers

by @ Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers

Can you help identify illustrations and transcribe captions in World War One-era newspapers from Chronicling America?

As announced this week by the Library of Congress, one of the first features of the new labs.loc.gov is Beyond Words, a website that invites the public to identify cartoons and photographs in historic newspapers and provide captions that will turn images into searchable data. This fun crowdsourcing program grows the data set of text available for researchers who use visualization, text analysis and other digital humanities methodologies to discover new knowledge from Chronicling America—the Library’s large collection of historic American newspapers. Beyond Words is available as a pilot project to help the Library of Congress learn more about what subsets of Library data researchers are interested in and to grow the Library’s capacity for crowdsourcing.

“What I like about crowdsourcing is it gives people a chance to discover hidden gems in the collection. You never know what you’ll find poking through old newspapers,” said Tong Wang, the IT specialist who created Beyond Words during a three-month pilot innovator-in-residence program.

Beyond Words will also generate public domain image galleries for scholarship and creative play. As this data set grows, educators, researchers and artists will be able to group image collections by time frame, such as identifying all historic cartoons appearing in World War I-era newspapers.

Tweet Queen Chrissy Teigen & More Stars Vow to Boycott Twitter After Rose McGowan’s Temporary Suspension

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

#WomenBoycottTwitter has already garnered a celebrity following.

A movement quickly galvanized around the hashtag on Thursday, encouraging women and allies to silence the social media platform on Friday (Oct. 13) after the service temporarily suspended actress Rose McGowan‘s account for violating its terms and policies.

“At midnight we RISE,” the Charmed alum, 44, announced.

Celebrities, including Chrissy Teigen, Mark Ruffalo and Gina Rodriguez, voiced their support by vowing not to tweet.

“Ladies. Let’s do this. #WomenBoycottTwitter. Not because of hate but because I love this platform and know it can be better,” Teigen, 31, wrote in a series of tweets on Thursday, along with photo proof that she turned off her Twitter notifications. “Tomorrow. No secret timeline checking, no tweets, no clicking the bluebird square. They need to see we matter.”

Adding, “I’m boycotting for many reasons. To stand with the victims of sexual assault, online threats and abuse. And … to boycott the fact our demented, p—- grabbing president can tweet nuclear threats of war I can’t even see.”

Meanwhile, Ruffalo, 49, said: “Tomorrow I follow the Women. #WomenBoycottTwitter.”

Rodriguez announced she canceled her plans to live tweet during the season 4 premiere, which airs on the CW Friday: “I stand with my sisters. I won’t be live tweeting the premiere of Jane the Virgin tomorrow. Instead come on over to @instagram I’ll do BTS!”

McGowan has been using Twitter to make vocal statements against Harvey Weinstein and the sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations against the movie mogul.

On Thursday, she alleged that she had been raped by Weinstein.

In response to the lengthy allegations made against Weinstein, a spokesperson for the movie mogul said, “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”

On Wednesday, the actress announced that her Twitter account was suspended on Instagram, sharing a screengrab of the notice.

She added in the caption, “TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE. #ROSEARMY.”

“We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan’s team,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to PEOPLE Thursday. “We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates of our Terms of Service. The Tweet was removed and her account has been unlocked. We will be clearer about these policies and decisions in the future.

“Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices on our platform, especially those that speak truth to power. We stand with the brave women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices.”

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers: Walt Whitman, "Life and Adventures of Jack Engle," and “Pride in the Library”

by @ Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers

The famous and gay poet Walt Whitman often wrote stories for newspapers. His recently rediscovered serial novel, “Life and Adventures of Jack Engle,” a purported first-person autobiography, appeared anonymously in the Sunday Dispatch (New York , NY), March 14 through April 18, 1852. A front page ad in the New-York Daily Tribune of March 13, 1852 promised “A RICH REVELATION.” Whitman’s sensational tale of a poor orphan’s true heritage slipped into obscurity until 2016, when researcher Zachary Turpin connected the Whitman-esque style of the ad and the name “Jack Engle” to an 1852 Whitman notebook in the Library of Congress' Manuscript Division. Whitman had jotted down plot lines, characters, and scenes he used in the story. The only full set of newspaper issues in which Whitman’s “lost” novel was originally printed is now available digitally in Chronicling America and this weekend (June 8-10), the originals are on display at the Library’s “Pride in the Library” pop-up exhibit. In addition to newspapers, this exhibition features a range of items from the Library’s extensive LGBTQ+ collections…. Read more about it, learn more about Walt Whitman through newspapers, and follow us on Twitter @librarycongress #ChronAm and @Events_LOC #LCPride!
